We were walking down the street with some elders. One of them is American too. As we were walking there were a bunch of high-school boys and they said,"I've never seen an American before! Can we take a picture?!?!" so the other elder from Utah and I took some pictures with some Peruvians. They were so excited. If you see a picture on Facebook of me with some high school boys let me know lol. The people are so interested in Americans. We had FHE with a family and they turned on some music so that I would sing for them. They played jingle bells and they were all singing. I joined in and then they all got quiet because they wanted to hear how i pronounce the words. It was so funny and awkward.  I am slowly understanding a little more Spanish and am able to have small conversations with people. I just guess what they're asking and hopefully I say the right thing. But the people here are so patient and nice.  We are teaching this 11 year old girl right now. Her brother is ...

Hola hola! This week has been difficult but it was better than last week. I can't understand hardly anything but luckily my companion speaks pretty good English. The other day we were walking and this guy is waving at me and talking to me. I didn't understand what he was saying so I just waved back and said "hola! Buenos tardes!". My companion grabs my arm and tells me to keep walking haha. Apparently that guy was saying "my love! My darling!" but I didn't know that because I don't understand any spanish! Also I'm the only white person here so everyone looks at me as we walk by haha its funny. The American elders here are teaching the Peruvians English. They are teaching them words like clown, jokester, silly goose, ghetto, and YEET!! It's so funny. Hola amigos!! Welp I finished the MTC and made it to Peru. This week has been so crazy. It was hard saying goodbye to my district and companions but I'm excited to be here in Perú. Honestly this week was kind of difficult. It's a new schedule, new culture  and a new language. I thought I knew some Spanish but apparently I know nothing haha. I just sit and try to understand what is being said. I was able to participate a little bit in a few lessons but most of the time I'm just trying to figure out what is going on.  I've been called greenga so many times this week lol. We were teaching this 17 year old and his family never joins the lessons when the missionaries are there. But because I'm white the family joined and we were able to have a good discussion with them. The people here are super nice and welcoming. There's a lot of work to be done here! I don't have much time so that's all for this week! I love you all and appreciate the prayers! <3 herman...

Okayyyy so guess what?! I got my visa! There were only 2 missionaries out of all 30-40 Peru missionaries at the MTC that got their visa. I was one of them! It's a MIRACLE! I leave for Peru on Monday and I'm so excited. God definitely has a plan for me and there must be someone in Peru that needs me.  This week has been super good. My Spanish is coming along. It's going to be so sad leaving my companions and district. I love them so much and it will be hard saying goodbye. We are still just having classes everyday trying to learn spanish. One night the fire alarm went off, my other two companions had just gotten out of the shower and were running to put clothes on to leave. The cops came and were trying to figure out what happened but no one knows. The very next night we had to go get medicine and as we were walking back, the MTC president stopped and asked us why there were so many people outside after hours. He told us to do better. Hola hola hola! Phrase of the week is "Que Pasa Calabaza" and it's similar to "What's up buttercup". One of the elders started saying it and now everyone says it. The elders are so funny. They had a friend throw boxing gloves over the fence so they had a boxing match one night. It wasn't just a play fight, it was real...with real hard punches. One of the elders got a bloody nose lol. They are so crazy but fun! I have officially been a missionary for a month! The days are kind of slow but the weeks go by so fast. I am learning so much spanish. The teachers only speak Spanish and I can understand mostly everything they are saying. The gift of tongues is real. I am still not good at Spanish but I have improved so much. Also...I joined the choir with my companions hehe. I know...very surprising haha...but it is actually so fun. My new favorite word is eggloaf lol. The MTC food is definitely interesting, on Sunday we had Keish for breakfast and Elder Leseur called it eggloaf and now all the elders in our district have created a band named Eggloaf. They have a concert every night in the boys bathroom. This week has been so good! I got to the MTC last Wednesday and we just go go go all day. I absolutely love my companions and district and teachers. I found some elders going to the Peru Trujjllo North mission!! I think there's only 5 missionaries here at the MTC going to our mission and I think I'm the only sister. Spanish is coming along slowly but I have learned so much. We taught our first lesson in Spanish yesterday and it went pretty good. We taught a guy from Ecuador and I don't think he speaks any Spanish. Hey everyone!! I have officially been a missionary for a week and a half. I am in a trio with Hermana Goates and Hermana Webb. Hermana Webb actually went to Dixie State this last year so that's kinda crazy that we both went there haha. They are the kindest people and I am so excited to meet them in Provo! My district and teachers are also so awesome and so funny. It's going to be so sad when we leave each other after the MTC because we have all gotten so close. We taught our first lesson on Saturday and I think it went pretty well. The person we were teaching was probably an actor but it was still good practice. We were so scared but the lesson went super well and we are teaching her again on Thursday! My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon has already grown so much. We studied the scriptures as a district and we would pause after each scripture to talk about it and gain new insight. It was amazing how we could get at least 10 different things out of ...
