Someone's Stalking Us

Image
We had a sisters pday at the presidents house on Monday! It was so fun to see more sister missionaries and talk with the president and his wife. The mission president and his wife are the kindest people and I love them so much. Also...I had cow heart this week. It wasn't that bad but it's not something I want to eat when I get home. This week we focused on finding people through service. So we helped this lady carry some things to her house. We told her that we do service for free and that she doesn't need to pay us.Well it wasn't her house, it's an abandoned house that's for sale. We tried sharing a message with her afterwards but she wouldn't pay attention so we invited her to an activity at the church the next day. The next morning she knocked on our door. We have no idea how she knows where we live! We didn't answer because people aren't really suppose to know where we live. And then she shows up to the church and was looking for us but we were i...

From Dad

Hey there sweetheart, It was so nice talking to you today. You're doing so many amazing things. I am so proud of you. Keep pushing hard with the Spanish. At some point, it will just click. You received a gift, Heavenly Father will help you. There's a reason it isn't super easy yet, there are things you are learning right now, that you wouldn't learn any other way. Love you, keep hanging in there. I wanted to tell you an experience I had this week with the Book of Mormon. You may or may not see this there, but there sure is a lot of Apostasy here. It seems to be growing in intensity. So much of it centers around criticism of the early church leaders, specifically Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Anyway, I started the Book of Mormon over again this past week. When I was reading the intro and testimony of the three and eight witnesses as well as the account of Joseph and Moroni, I had such a feeling of how true that Book is. It was a wonderful feeling. A couple of days afte...

Are You From Venezuela??

Image
Buenos días hermanitos!! Que tal?? This week was pretty good :) The weather here is in the 60s or 70s which is super nice. Last pday it was super nice outside so we played volleyball, basketball, and had hamburgers with our zone (grossest hamburger I've ever had). It was alot of fun! I got fried tho hehe esta bien :) Someone asked me if I was from Venezuela which is so funny because I'm white and can't speak hardly any Spanish. I hit one month in Perú which is crazy! We had stake conference this week and it was good. The Church was packed...all the rooms in the church were full. We showed up super late because we were picking up one of our investigators and it was so hard to find somewhere to sit. There's alot of members here which is amazing. I didn't understand most of the conference but our mission president and his wife spoke and I understand mostly everything they said because they have an American accent.  We have a few investigators that are progressing. Juan...

Pizza Hut In Perú!!

Image
Hola hola amigos y familia!  Nothing too crazy happened this week. For Pday last week we made cookies...and they were...interesting haha. I used my recipe but the ingredients here are different. Also we used a members kitchen and they don't have a temperature on the oven so we just guessed. The Peruvian missionaries have never had cookies before so they thought they were fine but I thought they were gross haha. This week we went to the Mall in Trujillo! Its actually really nice, I'd say it's better than the Boise mall haha. At the mall they have two American restaurants...McDonald's and pizza Hut. Since we can only go to the mall once a month, of course we got pizza Hut. It was surprising really good and very similar to the US. I miss American food haha! We had interviews with the Mission president and it was super good. We also got to talk to his wife, his wife doesn't know any Spanish so she loves being able to talk to the missionaries in English when she can. The...

We've Never Seen An American Before!

Image
We were walking down the street with some elders. One of them is American too. As we were walking there were a bunch of high-school boys and they said,"I've never seen an American before! Can we take a picture?!?!" so the other elder from Utah and I took some pictures with some Peruvians. They were so excited. If you see a picture on Facebook of me with some high school boys let me know lol. The people are so interested in Americans. We had FHE with a family and they turned on some music so that I would sing for them. They played jingle bells and they were all singing. I joined in and then they all got quiet because they wanted to hear how i pronounce the words. It was so funny and awkward.  I am slowly understanding a little more Spanish and am able to have small conversations with people. I just guess what they're asking and hopefully I say the right thing. But the people here are so patient and nice.  We are teaching this 11 year old girl right now. Her brother is ...

Yeet!!

Hola hola! This week has been difficult but it was better than last week. I can't understand hardly anything but luckily my companion speaks pretty good English. The other day we were walking and this guy is waving at me and talking to me. I didn't understand what he was saying so I just waved back and said "hola! Buenos tardes!". My companion grabs my arm and tells me to keep walking haha. Apparently that guy was saying "my love! My darling!" but I didn't know that because I don't understand any spanish! Also I'm the only white person here so everyone looks at me as we walk by haha its funny. The American elders here are teaching the Peruvians English. They are teaching them words like clown, jokester, silly goose, ghetto, and YEET!! It's so funny. I've never heard the word yeet more in my life until now haha.  I've learned a lot about Perú these last couple of weeks. There's dogs everywhere here. Some of them are scary. One of t...
